Knights of Waffle Trailer

March 28th, 2008 — 7:24pm

Here is a video that I created for all my friends in WoW. I don’t play anymore however, I thought this was a fun tribute to everyone in my old guild. Yes…I was actually a GM for a guild called Knights of Waffle.
Anwho…I really enjoyed making this even though it took my 8 year old computer neatly 12 hours to render a minute of the giant waffle fly arounds.

Coding on my mind…

March 22nd, 2008 — 8:30pm

{

Oddly enough the month has been horribly busy. First it was my apartment kicking everyone out to refurb the place into condos then, it was my third flat tire in less than a year. Not to mention the whole looking for a new place to live and that other little thing I do called work.

Some how I have also managed to get really into computer programming again. I have always loved OSX and have has several ideas for great apps that I’d much rather make myself than give away. So…I have been building a self education road map for myself.

The internet is a pretty amazing place. (duh) But what is blowing me away lately is all the free lectures, books, and course-ware there is popping up all over the place. Trying to learn C from a book is kinda wonky…but watching various lectures has been supremely helpful.

Now if I can just stay on course…my curiosity has me preemptively jumping ahead to the work of Objective-C and Cocoa to see what is to come. Anywho….back to learning about Pointers.

Studer Vista 5 Rocks!

March 8th, 2008 — 9:05pm

Ok…so it’s been several months now and I have to say I really enjoy working on the Studer Vista desk. It just does…well…everything. OK…not everything and there is one thing they have yet to put in…but I’m betting it will be there soon. More on that in a bit though.

It would be hard to list everything the console does…so I’ll just highlight a few of my favorites.

1) I can move FOH and only have to repatch 2 CAT-5 Cables.
2) I have more i/o than God.
3) Anyone familar with a analog desk (and maybe some DAW’s) can step behind it with little problem
4) I have a 32 bus Marix..20 groups…10 Masters…VCA’s for days…and did I mention I can reconfig the desk to any number I can imagine?
5) The automation is pretty great.
6) And most importantly…3 Giant touch screens with Real Rotary knobs built into it. O.o
7) O ya…and it sounds amazing.

There is a lot more, I’ll post more about it as I think about it.

The one thing I’d like to see change in the software is the ability to change the strip setup via a snapshot call. Not a huge deal….but at some point I’m going to need to switch around my 60 input faders. If I was on a Broadway musical…this would be essential.

Anyway…more soon on this.
